VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON DNA EXTRACTION AND AGAROSE GEL ELECTROPHORESIS (AGE)

Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology, CGC, Landran, Mohali organized a virtual workshop on DNA extraction and agarose gel electrophoresis (AGE) on 24 March, 2023 for the Biotechnology and Microbiology students in collaboration with virtual lab (An Initiative of the Ministry of Education under the National Mission on Education through ICT) IIT Delhi. Department of Biotechnology always encourages development of professional and technical skill in students by providing platform to gain knowledge and exposure. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Prateek Sharma (Sr. Field Engineer) IIT Delhi. He shared valuable insights on various virtual lab modules in the field of Biotechnology as well as Microbiology. His session was highly informative and visually compelling for the audience. The session was about DNA extraction from microbial source and running agarose gel electrophoresis for the extracted DNA. Overall, it was a well-structured workshop full of knowledge from both theoretical as well as practical point of view. It enriched students with knowledge and ongoing research in the field of Biotechnology and Microbiology.
