Knowledge session on the topic “BIRAC- Biotechnology Ignition Grant Call”

Department of Biotechnology, CCT organized a knowledge session on the topic “BIRAC- Biotechnology Ignition Grant Call 24 th ” in collaboration with Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi for B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. (Hons) Microbiology and M.Sc. Biotechnology students on 30 th January 2024. This knowledge Session was focused on writing proposals for Translational Research and Entrepreneurship as part of ongoing initiatives towards the startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem focusing on the BIRAC - BIG 24 th  Call. Dr Saket Chattopadhyay, Sr Business Development Manager at FITT Delhi emphasized that young talent innovative ideas should be promoted to develop technologies impacting sectors such as Pharma, medical devices, healthcare, diagnostics, Industrial Biotech, Agriculture, and the environment.  He also informed the audience about Writing, Legal & financial compliances, and other offerings provided to innovators at FITT. Their main focus was to inform the audience about Biotechnology Ignition grant (BIG) is BIRAC's flagship program which provides financial support of INR 50 Lakhs to startups and entrepreneurs to work on their innovative ideas with a commercialization potential for up to 18 months. This program aims to validate proof of concept, foster enterprise formation, and inspire young minds to bring technology to market through startups.

Such programs encourage young individuals as well as faculty members in understanding and benefitting from the entrepreneurship support programs.
