Expert Talk on “Genes to Gene products and Their Benevolence to Society”

Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology, CGC, Landran, Mohali organized an Expert Talk on “Genes to Gene Products and Their Benevolence to Society” by Dr. Sudhir Pratap Singh, Scientist-D, Centre of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing (CIAB), NABI Mohali, Punjab for the Biotechnology , Microbiology and Pharmacy students. Department of Biotechnology always encourages development of professional and technical skill in students by providing platform to gain knowledge and exposure. The session was conducted by Dr. Sudhir Pratap Singh where he shared his valuable insights on genes, genomics and metagenomics. His session was highly informative and visually compelling for the audience. The lecture emphasized on transformation of biomass derived carbohydrate macromolecules into value-added products wherein he discussed about the importance of enzymes in biotransformation including pectate lyase, cellulase, xylanase and endopolygalacturonase. He also discussed various domains for research and jobs across India. Overall, it was a well-structured session that enriched students with knowledge and ongoing research in genomics and metagenomics.
