Earth Day Awareness Program

On April 15, 2024, the Department of Biotechnology at Chandigarh College of Technology, Landran, organized an awareness program in anticipation of Earth Day, which is scheduled to be celebrated on April 22, 2024. The theme for this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs Plastic," highlighting the urgent need to address the global issue of plastic pollution. A team of approximately 50 B.Sc. Biotechnology students led by Dr. Shweta Kamboj, Dr. Deepak Sharma, and Mr. Pushpender Singh, actively engaged in a door-to-door campaign at village Saneta (Mohali). They visited various households in the villages to spread awareness about the adverse consequences of plastic usage. Along with the door-to-door campaign, the students distributed pamphlets and posters emphasizing the negative impacts of plastic on human health and the environment. These educational materials aimed to provide practical tips and alternatives to plastic usage. The students conducted interactive sessions with the villagers, facilitating discussions on the importance of preserving the environment and the role of individuals in combating plastic pollution. They shared insights into sustainable practices and encouraged the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives to plastic.
