Cancer day

Every year Department of Biotechnology, CCT, Landran organizes cancer awareness program on the occasion of world Cancer day. Two days cancer awareness campaign was organized. Day one- 1st February 2024 more than 100 students of B.Sc. Biotechnology, M.Sc. Biotechnology, Bsc. (Hons) Microbiology and Pharm D participated in walkathon organised by Department of Biotechnology and IVY hospital, Mohali. Campus Director Prof (Dr) P N Hrishikesha flagged off the walkathon along with other directors and heads of CGC. The students walked from CGC Landran to IVY hospital, Mohali and created awareness among the residents of Landran and Mohali about prevention and treatment of cancer. Students also performed Nukkad Natak related to theme ‘ close the care gap’ at an event organised by IVY Hospital at Pracheen Kala Kendra, Mohali. The performance was applauded by all the doctors, hospital staff and other spectators. Students also interacted with the esteemed doctors from the oncology department of IVY hospital, Mohali.

Day 2- 2nd February 2024 in the lieu of Cancer day a technical session and Mammography camp was organized in the campus of Chandigarh group of Colleges , Landran , Mohali in collaboration with SGHS Hospital, Sohana, Mohali . The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Sandeep Kukkar, Director oncology, SGHS hospital, Sohana, Mohali . The chief guest talked about precision medicine, personlaised medicine , PSA Test for early detection of prostrate cancer , cervical cancer vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine. Under the mammography camp 25 female staff were scanned. Along with this different technical and non technical competitions like model making, poster making quiz and fitness walk were conducted for students . The winners for the event were as follows in model making first prize was grabbed by Rashi and Avantika BSc Biotech Sem 4 , 2nd prize was given to Nahish and Ayushi BSc Biotech Sem 4 and the third prize went to Tanvi and Kanishka MSc Biotech Sem 2 . In postermaking Arushi and Ankita from BSc Biotech Sem 2 and Parul from BSc Biotech Sem 4 were the winners. In Quiz competition first prize was given to Parul and Rachna BSc Biotech Sem 4, second prize was taken by Rashi and Nandini BSc Biotech Sem 4 and third prize won by Piyyush BSc Biotech Sem 2 and Dhruv BSc Hons Microbiology Sem 2. The expert talk was given by Dr. Piyush Mehta, Consultant oncology, SGHS hospital, sohana, Mohali. Nitish was declared Mr Fit from Msc sem 4 and Ishika from BSc Hons Micro Sem 6 was declared Ms Fit.
