Industrial Visit to Forensic Science Laboratory, Mohali

The Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology, CGC Landran, organized an industrial visit for B.Sc. Biotechnology Semester V students to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Serology and DNA Unit, Phase 4, Mohali. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the application of biotechnology and molecular biology techniques in forensic investigations.

During the visit, students gained valuable insights into the processing and analysis of biological evidence, including blood and other biological samples, and learned about the role of serological examination and DNA profiling in forensic investigations. The experts at the laboratory explained various stages involved in forensic sample handling, preservation, DNA extraction, amplification, and analysis, along with the importance of maintaining proper documentation and chain of custody.

The interaction with Dr. Sanjiv Kumar helped students understand how concepts studied in their academic curriculum are applied in real-world forensic investigations. The visit also provided an opportunity for students to learn about career opportunities and emerging applications of biotechnology in forensic science.

The students actively participated in the interactive session and expressed their appreciation for the informative and hands-on exposure provided during the visit. The visit proved to be an enriching academic experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications and enhancing students' understanding of forensic biotechnology.
