Industrial Visit to Verka Milk Plant, Mohali

On 27 January 2026, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran (CCT) organized an industrial visit to the Verka Milk Plant, Mohali, for students of B.Sc. Biotechnology and BCA Department. The visit was conducted with the objective of providing students with hands-on exposure to industrial operations and enhancing their understanding of practical applications of theoretical concepts.

The main purpose of the visit was to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practices. It allowed students to observe the functioning of a large-scale dairy industry and understand how technology, quality assurance, and safety standards are implemented in real-world production environments.

During the visit, students were guided through various sections of the plant, including milk collection, processing, packaging, and storage units. They observed advanced processing techniques, automated machinery, and strict hygiene protocols followed to maintain product quality. The importance of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards in dairy production was emphasized throughout the tour.

A significant part of the visit was the exposure to the fermentation unit, where students learned about the production of fermented dairy products such as curd and lassi. Industry professionals explained the role of microorganisms, controlled temperature, and environmental conditions required for effective fermentation. This session was especially beneficial for Biotechnology students, as it strengthened their understanding of microbial applications in the dairy industry.

An interactive session with industry experts provided insights into production management, safety regulations, technological integration, and potential career opportunities in the industrial sector. Students actively participated and gained valuable knowledge about professional practices and industry expectations.

Overall, the industrial visit was a highly informative and enriching experience. It enhanced students’ industrial exposure, improved professional awareness, and contributed positively to their career orientation. Such educational visits play a vital role in developing practical skills and preparing students for future industrial challenges.
