Industrial Visit to Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali
A group of 55 Biotechnology students from B.Sc. Semester IV and M.Sc. Semester II undertook an enriching industrial visit to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali on 6th February 2026.
The visit commenced at Academic Block-1, where Ms. Bharti from the Dean’s IRO Office warmly welcomed the students and provided an overview of the Institute and its cutting-edge advancements in biological research. Students were given hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art instruments at the Instrumentation Facility, including the Scanning Electron Microscope, Ultracentrifuge, Gel Documentation System, Fluorescent and Bright-Field Microscopes, Confocal Microscope, Cell and Tissue Homogenizer, as well as PCR and RT-PCR machines.
At the Biological Science Teaching Laboratory, Mr. Rakesh demonstrated essential laboratory techniques and familiarized students with advanced equipment, effectively bridging theoretical concepts with practical applications. A major highlight of the visit was Central Instrumentation Facility, where students observed high-field NMR spectrometers (400, 500, and 600 MHz) in operation, gaining valuable insights into molecular structure analysis and advanced research methodologies.
The visit proved to be highly informative and inspiring. Students returned with enhanced knowledge, practical exposure, and renewed motivation to apply their learning toward innovative contributions in the field of biotechnology.
