Prarambh 2026
The Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology (CCT), CGC Landran, warmly welcomed its newly admitted B.Sc. and M.Sc. Biotechnology students through Prarambh 2026, a week-long induction programme held from July 24 to July 30, 2026.
The programme commenced with registration, student introductions, departmental and laboratory tours, and interactive sessions with class coordinators. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Head of the Department, welcomed the students and introduced them to the department's vision, academic programmes, research opportunities, and the diverse career prospects in biotechnology.
Faculty members familiarized students with the academic ecosystem through informative sessions. Dr. Mohinder Pal, Examination Head, explained the examination and evaluation system, while Dr. Mandheer Kaur highlighted the importance of human values; NSS & various clubs. Ms. Ankita introduced students to the ERP and Learning Management System (LMS), and Ms. Shelly Kataria explained the Mentor–Mentee Programme, emphasizing continuous academic guidance and personal support.
The induction programme featured several expert sessions aimed at broadening students' perspectives. Mr. Vikas Menon encouraged students to adopt an active lifestyle through sports and physical fitness, while Dr. Suksham showcased the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in Biotechnology. Dr. Aditya Kumar, Placement Coordinator, acquainted students with placement opportunities, industry expectations, and career planning.
An inspiring alumni interaction by Ms. Anuraj Chahal, Business Development Manager at Medrix Lab and an alumna of the department, motivated students by sharing her professional journey and highlighting the importance of continuous learning and emerging career opportunities in biotechnology.
A major highlight of the programme was the distinguished industry lecture by Mr. Anmol Aggarwal, Team Lead – R&D Strategy, Venus Remedies Limited, on "Significance of Biotechnology in Addressing Antimicrobial Resistance in the Current Scenario." He highlighted the role of biotechnology in addressing antimicrobial resistance through innovations in diagnostics, therapeutics, and precision medicine, inspiring students to pursue research and innovation.
Students also benefited from insightful sessions by Ms. Gurleen Kaur, College Psychologist, on mental health and emotional well-being; Dr. Deepika, Publication Head, RISE Department on research, innovation, and entrepreneurship; and Lt. (Dr.) Santosh Kumar, Head of NCC Deptt. on leadership, discipline, and personality development.
The concluding sessions featured an inspiring address by Dr. Palki Sahib Kaur, Director Principal, CCT, followed by insightful talks from Dr. Neha Sharma, Dean Research; Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar, Director Academics; Dr. Harsimran Kaur, Dean IQAC; Capt. Vinod Jaswal, HOD (Sports); Ms. Aishna Mahajan, Head, International Affairs; Ms. Renu Oberoi, Chief Librarian; and Dr. Gagandeep Bhullar, Director – Student Welfare & Alumni Affairs. The sessions introduced students to academic excellence, research opportunities, quality initiatives, sports and fitness, global exposure, library resources, and the importance of emotional well-being and holistic development.
An insightful session on preventive healthcare was conducted by Dr. Surinder Pal Singh, Principal Consultant – Critical Care (Pulmonology & Critical Care), Max Hospital. He emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle practices, and early disease prevention.
The induction programme also included sessions on laboratory orientation, departmental clubs, value-added programmes, and anti-ragging awareness. Recreational activities, including a Talent Hunt, interactive games, and an enjoyable visit to Elante Mall and Bird Park, provided students with opportunities to build friendships and create lasting memories beyond the classroom.
Prarambh 2026 concluded successfully, providing students with a strong foundation for their academic journey through a perfect blend of orientation, industry exposure, research insights, and holistic development, while inspiring them to strive for excellence in biotechnology.
