One day workshop chromatography techniques

Department of Biotechnology, CCT organized one day workshop on “Hands on training on chromatographic techniques” for biotech and pharmacy students on 29th Feb, 2020. An introductory talk on various chromatographic techniques was delivered by Ms. Amrit Kaur, AP Biotechnology Dept for the students where in students were made aware about the basic principle of chromatography techniques and their applications. Followed by this lecture students were imparted hands on training on Paper and Thin Layer chromatography. Post lunch an expert talk was delivered by Dr. Amit Sandhu (Scientist D, PGIMER, Chandigarh) on HPLC who is also an alumni of 1st batch of Biotechnology department B.Sc. Batch 2006-2009 and M.Sc. (2009-2011). He delivered an interactive session with students on various aspects of column chromatography like Ion Exchange and HPLC technique. The students were highly encouraged and motivated during interaction with Dr Amit Sandhu. Dr Sandhu also encouraged students to take interest in research and to become skillfull by participating whole heartedly in workshops and trainings organized for the students. He also shared few memorable moments of his student life at CGC and how it helped him to excel in the field of research. Overall it was knowledgeable and interactive workshop for students which involved teaching learning and practical ability enhancement for students where in the students learnt about how chromatography works and how it can be used for its application for protein identification, determining purity of sample and molecular weight determination of unknown sample.
