Expert talk on Microbiological Background of Infection, Prevention and Overview

Gene Pool club, Department of biotechnology organized an expert talk on Microbiological background of infection, prevention and overview on 28th August 2024.The expert for the session was Dr. Divya Arora, MD, DNB, SCE Dermatology, venereology and leprosy, consultant dermatologist at Livasa Hospital Mohali. She explained the concept of development of skin infection, microbes involved its prevalence and prevention. Concepts of increase risk of skin infection among the elderly and soft tissues were covered by the speaker. Other areas of discussions were enhanced awareness and tailored treatment approaches. Students equally participated in the process of learning interpersonal skills by giving inputs into the discussion. After the session free skin consultation camp was also organized in the department. Dr. Shivani consultant dermatologist at Livasa Hospital provided consultation to more than 50 patients including students, faculty members and workers. The poster making and essay writing competitions were also organized in the department. Beenu from B.Sc. Biotech semester 1 bagged first prize in poster making competition Radhika (BSc. Sem 3), Bhavneet (BSc. Sem 3) and Tavleen (M.Sc. sem 1) got 1st, second and third Towards the conclusion of the session, she welcomed intriguing questions from students and answered them comprehensively. The session was highly interactive and participants appreciated the insights delivered by the speaker.
