DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY, CCT, ORGANISESD AN EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO BUTTERFLY PARK AND BIRD PARK, CHANDIGARH

On Wednesday, 12th April 2023, an exposure tour was organized for the students of B.Sc. Biotechnology Semester 2, Department of Biotechnology, CCT, Landran to Butterfly Park and Bird Park in Chandigarh, The students were accompanied by two faculty members, Dr. Mandheer Kaur and Ms. Aishwarya Sharma. The aim of the visit was to familiarize the students with the great diversity of flora and fauna. The Department of Forest & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh, has developed Chandigarh Butterfly Park and Bird Park to create awareness among the general public towards butterfly and bird conservation, especially young minds on nature education and conservation.

The Butterfly Park provided an excellent opportunity for the students to learn about the different species of butterflies and their life cycle. The park had informative displays and exhibits that provided insights into the butterfly's life cycle, habitat, and feeding habits. The Bird Park had a vast collection of birds from various species and was well-maintained with lush greenery and clean surroundings. The park had aviaries where the students could observe the birds up close and learn about their characteristics, habitats, and behaviors. The students were fascinated by the variety of birds, including African Love Birds, Budgerigars, White Swan, Black Swan, Wood duck, Golden Pheasant, Yellow Golden Pheasant, Green Wing Macaw, Dun Conures, African Grey Parrot, Finches, and Melanistic Pheasant.

The visit to both parks was an excellent opportunity for the students to connect with nature and learn about the importance of protecting and preserving wildlife. Overall, the visit was a great success, and the students left with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the importance of protecting and conserving wildlife.
