Day 2- Two Days workshop on “Indian Knowledge Systems" (IKS)
The two-days’ workshop on Indian Knowledge Systems held by Department of Biotechnology, CCT, from 27 th to 28 th November 2024, concluded successfully, leaving participants with a wealth of knowledge about traditional Indian wisdom and its contemporary relevance.
The day commenced with a warm welcome and felicitation of esteemed guests. The first session of the day was delivered by Dr. Saranya S. Kumar, Assistant Professor at Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College, Chandigarh on the topic "Mental Health and Indian Knowledge System: Exploring Ayurvedic Insights". She highlighted the role of ancient practices in maintaining mental health in modern times.
The second session, titled “Memory, Identities, and Continuities: Role of Myths, Folklores, and Orality as Constituents of Indian Wisdom and Knowledge across Ages,” was presented by Prof. (Dr.) Priyatosh Sharma from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Sharma discussed significance of myths, folklore, and oral traditions in shaping Indian wisdom.
Last session of the day was delivered by Dr. Sunil Sharma, Assistant Professor, Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Chandigarh. He highlighted the applications of Yoga Sadhana on Mental Health Equanimity.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the management, guest speakers, organizers, and participants. The workshop, organized by the Department of Biotechnology, CCT, aimed to bridge traditional Indian knowledge systems with contemporary applications.
