Day 1- Two Days workshop on “Indian Knowledge Systems" (IKS)
Workshop on the "Indian Knowledge Systems" (IKS) was organized by Dept. of Biotechnology, CCT, CGC Landran to provide an in-depth understanding of India’s rich, diverse, and ancient intellectual traditions. Around 100 attendees including faculty and students from various disciplines participated in the event.
The event was inaugurated by Prof (Dr.) Virendra Kumar Alankar, Chairperson, Dayanand Chair for Vedic Studies and Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Dr. Ashok Kumar Associate Professor, Dept. of Applied Sciences, NITTTR, Chandigarh; and CGC management.
The workshop began with an inaugural address by Prof. (Dr.) Palki Sahib Kaur, Director Principal, CCT, CGC Landran, who extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees. The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Virendra Kumar Alankar, highlighted the critical relevance of the workshop's theme, "Indian Knowledge Systems," especially the role of vedic education in Indian systems.
Dr. Ashok Kumar’s session focused on key aspects of IKS, covering various domains like philosophy, mathematics, medicine, literature, and environmental science. Next speaker, Dr. Lalit Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, PGI, Chandigarh explored how psychological principles have been deeply embedded within India’s intellectual and spiritual traditions.
A captivating session on Classical Kathak Dance was conducted, led by Dr. Samira Koser, - Vice-President and Nritya Vidha Pramukh of Sanskar Bharti, Chandigarh and Deputy Registrar, Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. This session explored Kathak as not only an art form but as a key component of India’s rich cultural and knowledge heritage. Through engaging discussions and collaborative exchanges, the day1 of workshop showcased how IKS can complement and enhance modern science and technology.
