Biotechnology students visited Verka Plant Mohali

Visit to Verka plant, Mohali was organized by Department of Biotechnology, CCT landran on 22.03.2022 to enrich the students’ knowledge about the functioning and operation of a diary industry. Verka is a nationwide popular brand for dairy products. Their major production areas are UHT milk for army, ice-cream, butter, ghee and mango juice. This educational tour has enhanced the B.Sc. Biotech semester four student’s information about food microbiology. Pasteurization section, food processing unit, fermentation lab, effluent treatment plant and packaging sections were visited by students under the guidance of Verka technical staff. The students learnt about the receiving of milk at Verka plant, its processing and final packing for the end user. This visit also made students aware about the job profiles available in dairy industry.
