2 Day DST SERB Sponsored International Conference Kicked in CCT, Landran, Mohali at Department of Biotechnology

Scholars, Experts, and industry leaders from around the world gathered today at CCT Landran for the highly anticipated two-day DST SERB sponsored International Conference on Emerging Trends in Green Energy and Environment Sustainability, organized by Department of Biotechnology, CCT, CGC, Landran from 26 th -27 th September, 2024.

The conference opened with the welcome address by Campus Director, Dr. P. N Hrisheekesha, Dr. Ruchi Singla, Director Research and Innovation (ACIC RISE) and Dr. Palki Sahib , Director –Principal, CCT , Landran , followed by traditional lamp lightening ceremony and address by the Chief Guest, Dr. Dapinder Bakshi, Joint Director, PSCST, Chandigarh, Guest of Honour Ms. Ravneet Kaur Sidhu, Director, FDA, Punjab, Mr. Ramit Gupta, Director, Spray Engineering Devices (SED) Ltd, Mohali. Dr. Dapinder Bakshi spoke about the climate change and its effects on the world with the need to bring change. She emphasized on state action plan which need to be implemented positively. She urged the students to be the ambassadors of environment sustainability. Ms. Ravneet Sidhu, Director, FDA, Punjab emphasised on the usage of green practices from the household only, for environmental sustainability. Mr Ramit Gupta, Director, Spray Engineering Devices (SED) Ltd, Mohali related the engineering aspects with the use of agricultural engineering tools in the field of agriculture. Conference proceedings were released by the dignitaries. Mr Ayush Garg, Founder and CEO, Future Ecoventures LLP and Mr. Dharminder, Founder, Kudrat Organic Farms, Mohali, Punjab were also present as Special Guests and they also motivated the young minds for opting green energy resources like vermi composting and pond development and rejuvenation.

The conference keynote address was delivered by Prof. Balbir Singh Kaith from NIT, Jalandhar. He emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture practices and talked about the concept of organic farming. He also covered the role of ecofriendly super absorbents in evergreen revolution. Dr. Yashveer Singh, IIT-Ropar spoke on biomaterials for wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Young researchers presented the innovative environmental solution by the medium of poster presentations and project display.

The event concluded with a session by Dr Jayeeta Bhaumik, CIAB, Mohali. She talked about Agri-Biomass Lignin-Based Green and Sustainable Technologies and Dr. Vijay K. Bharti, DRDO Leh-Ladakh stressed on Water Quality of Himalayan Regions Challenges and solutions.

The Day one brought all the experts and budding researchers under one roof and resulted in novel solutions for environment sustainability .
